ArcGIS 10. The Visual Basic 6 code has been migrated to Visual Basic .Net under the ESRI ArcObjects.Net framework. Two versions are availabe, PA 5.1 complied for running under ArcMap 10, and PA 5.0 compiled for running under ArcMap 9.3. No new functions have been added, but the performance of some functions has been enhanced, and the help file updated. The output results of PA 4, 5.0, and 5.1 have been compared, and these results were all identifical. It is anticipated that the biggest issues will be install related, as with the release of Windows 7 security has been tightened. I've provided guidance on this issue in several places. Audio/video tutorials have also been provided to clarify the use of the major Patch Analyst functions. Please me send any reports of bugs, and I will do my best to handle them when time is available. For install issues, please let me know the Windows Operating system you are using, whether you are running as Administrator on your user account, and whether you ran ArcMap as Administrator

ArcGIS 9.3. With the release of ArcGIS 10, support for Visual Basic 6 was dropped. I managed to get some Patch Analyst and Patch Grid functions working in ArcGIS 10 (e.g., analysis by regions), but not all functions are working yet. As a temporary fix, you can still analyze a single region that encompasses your entire study area. This fix has only been tested on a few machines, so I am interested in knowing if you were able to install the program and successfully run analysis by regions.

ArcGIS 9.3. This problem has been fixed in version Patch Analyst 4.2.10 and Patch Grid 4.2.7. For older versions ArcGIS 9.3 has a known issue with modal dialog boxes built using VB6. This problem affects several of Patch Analyst 4 dialog boxes. The work around if using older versions is to manually launch the ArcGIS VBA editor before selecting the Patch Analyst or Patch Grid spatial statistics dialog boxes. Go to Tools... Macros...VB Editor to launch the editor, then run Patch Analyst.

Naming issue with Simpson's Diversity Index. This problem has been fixed in version 4.2.10 and Patch Grid 4.2.7. For older versions it is a problem with the name appearing the spatial statistics output table for Shannon's and Simpson's Diversity Index. The field label "SIDI" has been renamed as "SHEI". Therefore, the column labelled SHEI should really be SIDI.

Table overwrite problem. If you choose the ‘overwrite’ option for the output tables in Spatial Statistics (by Regions)
the only table that will be overwritten is the main output table (named by user). The other tables that are created (SStatsByRgn-ClassAreaCrossTab, SStatsByRgns-Histogram Table and SStatsByRgns-TotalEdgeCrossTab) will be appended to regardless of whether the ‘overwrite’ or ‘append’ option is selected.

Patch Analyst Bug and Problem Report

Describe the bug or problem in sufficient detail, and specify what version of Patch Analyst you are using, and what version of ArcGIS or ArcView.  Specify whether the problem was with Patch Analyst or Patch Analyst (Grid).

To determine if the problem is related to your data theme, try the action again on a much smaller or simpler data set.  Test if the problem occurs in a new map or project.

For install issues, please let me know the Windows Operating system you are using, whether you are running as Administrator on your user account, and whether you ran ArcMap as Administrator before completing the install steps.
